Front-line workers are ministering to many Christian women in Nigeria who have lost their husbands in attacks by Islamists in recent years.
Grace (pictured right) was five months pregnant and had two other children when militant Fulani Muslims attacked her community and killed her husband, Musa. Grace’s in-laws blamed her for Musa’s death and threw her and her children out of their house.
Another Nigerian widow, Saratu, fled into the bush with her four children when Boko Haram militants attacked her village. Saratu’s husband went ahead of them to scout a path, but after several hours, she and her children could not find him.
When Saratu called her husband’s phone, a stranger answered the call and said they had found the phone on a dead body.
With VOM’s help, both women have moved forward with their lives despite their suffering.

Praise God for His provision for these widows and their children.
Pray for Grace and Saratu as they walk through the pain of losing their husbands. Pray that their relationships with the Lord will be strengthened as they lean on Him and seek to forgive the militants who murdered their husbands.
Pray for the many children in Nigeria whose fathers are killed in violent attacks. Pray that they will grow up knowing God as their Father.
