IRAN: Christian Churches Unable to Meet Amid Civil Unrest

Nov 23, 2022 | VoM

Protests erupted across Iran following the recent death of a 22-year-old woman in police custody.

The Iranian government has responded to the demonstrations with force and brutality. When soldiers shot at a group of protesters and hit a passing bus, an Iranian Christian was wounded. That brother was hospitalised at the time and has since been released.

The government has also shut down the internet in some areas. “I haven’t been able to contact two of my congregations for weeks,” said one Iranian minister, who conducts online services from outside the country.

Christians ask for prayers that their churches can function during this time of civil unrest that one front-line worker described as “like nothing we have seen before”.

Please Pray

Pray for peace and stability in areas affected by civil unrest. Pray also for Christian prisoners who feel discouraged and need emotional support.

Pray that Supreme Leader Ali Hoseini-Khamenei will come to know Christ.

Pray that church leaders in Iran will reach the country’s youth, who have lived their entire lives under Islamist oppression.
